Dallas FAces Race

Dallas Faces Race was a platform that aimed to create a sustainable forum on race in Dallas, Texas. The initiative brought together various organizations to actively build their capacity to address racial equity and effect change in the community. Unlike typical discussion groups on race, cultural awareness, and diversity, Dallas Faces Race was designed to engage individuals and organizations who were ready to define equity and work collaboratively towards creating a more just and equitable society. We recognize the importance of this work and have compiled these resources to ensure that the valuable information and insights shared on Dallas Faces Race are accessible to everyone who is committed to advancing racial equity in their own communities.

Established as a burial ground for Dallas’ early African-American population in 1861. This is one of the largest Freedman Cemeteries in the country. The beautiful memorial was built in late 1990 to commemorate this important site.
